Outstanding 97 points to Don Melchor 2013

The 27th vintage of the icon Cabernet Sauvignon from the Alto Maipo was considered “Wine of the year” in the “Bordeaux Blends” category in atkin’s recent report on Chile.

English wine critic Tim Atkin MW praised the 2013 Don Melchor, Chile’s most iconic Cabernet Sauvignon, with an extraordinary 97 points, one of the highest scores in the report on Chilean wines, and also named it “Wine of the Year” in the “Bordeaux blend” category.

The British Master of Wine released his special report on the Chilean market as a result of his recent visit and tasting more than 700 wines, after which he said he considered Don Melchor, by winemaker Enrique Tirado, to be one of the best.

Don Melchor, from the renowned Puente Alto terroir, has consistently received the highest accolades throughout its history and is positioned as Chile’s most award-winning Cabernet Sauvignon and one of the maximum representatives of the variety in the world.

“This is one of greatest ever releases of Don Melchor. The coolness of the vintage is evident in the freshness, poise and sheer elegance of this exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon-based blend. Focused and fine, with leafy, minty notes and dexterous oak integration.” Tim Atkin
